Speakers:
Kirsten Wiebe

Erin Jamieson

This session will provide lawyers with an understanding of the role of the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate and how the office provides advocacy for young people, ensuring their rights, interests and entitlements are heard and acted upon. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) impacts young people in Alberta and can assist in representing and/or advocating for children and youth. In addition, to providing an overview of the OCYA, there will be an opportunity to discuss the UNCRC and the UNDRIP.
