QB just adjourned all matters up to May 1st, and extended the application filing prohibition to the same date. More: https://albertacourts.ca/qb/resources/announcements/covid-19-extension-of-suspension-of-sittings

Amanda Baretta of Latitude Family Law has been very graciously posting regular updates about Provincial Court, Family Division in the comments to the announcement here, along with documents distributed on behalf of Associate Chief Justice Holmstrom: http://familycounsel.ca/news.php?id=1669

From what I'm seeing, arbitration bookings are starting to increase dramatically. Arbitration is a better process than constant litigation anyways, at least the one good thing to come from this pandemic may be an increased use of this excellent ADR method. Until recently, family law arbitration has been rarely used outside of Edmonton, so we assembled this educational resource to let you know the advantages, answer FAQs, and let you know of the family law arbitrators in each municipality: http://divorcearbitrations.ca I urge you to read it and consider arbitration on your files soon, because given the limited number of family law arbitrators, available slots will likely fill up very quickly. Most if not all arbitrators recognize that many of you will be trying this for the first time, and will be willing to guide you through the process. It's usually meant to be fairer and more relaxed than court. Many of us have set up systems for voice and video conference arbitration. Feel free to post your arbitration questions here.
