LEAF Edmonton Persons Day Breakfast (via Zoom) - October 19, 2020

Riley Gallant
  Latitude Family Law LLP
   Edmonton, Alberta

LEAF Edmonton's annual Persons Day Breakfast is on October 19, 2020.

This year it will be presented online via Zoom. The keynote "Contested Legal Personalities: Indigenous Women" will be presented by Dr. Val Napoleon. Dr. Napoleon will explore how the combined conditions of violence as well as the various responses to sexualized, gendered violence have shaped the present day legal personhood of Indigenous women and girls from an Indigenous legal perspective and from a Canadian legal perspective.

Dr. Napoleon is the Law Foundation Professor of Aboriginal Justice and Governance at the University of Victoria Faculty of Law.

LEAF Edmonton has held a Persons Day Breakfast celebration every year since 1985, the year LEAF incorporated and section 15 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms came into force. Supporting this event helps LEAF to continue its important mission nationally and locally.

Ticket are available at leafedmpdb2020.eventbrite.ca and prices have been adjusted to reflect the reduced expense of presenting this event. However as this event remains LEAF Edmonton's primary fundraiser, it is still possible to support LEAF by purchasing a regular priced ticket. A regular ticket is $25, a "supporter" ticket is $75, and student/low income tickets are available for $5. Blocks of 10 tickets can be purchased as a "table" and the names of organizations that have purchased a "table" will be highlighted in the program as a sponsor.

This information and more is included in the attached PDF. If this event is of interest to you please share with your networks.
