Joint Statements of Claim - New Titles for Parties

Marla Miller, K.C.
  Miller Boileau Family Law Group
   Edmonton, Alberta

No longer are the parties to be named as Wife and Husband when filing a Joint Statement of Claim for Divorce. New protocol is to name the parties as "Spouse 1" and "Spouse 2". See FL-8 here: https://albertacourts.ca/court-of-queens-bench/publications-forms/family-law-forms
Actions that have already been commenced do not need to be amended.
(Interesting note: While one might think that it would be less confusing to simply call the parties by their first names instead of Spouse 1 and Spouse 2, this does not work with standardized terms and forms.)
