Speaker:
The Honourable Mr. Justice R. Jerke
Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta
Topic:
Summary Trials: "The times they are a-changing."
Hryniak v Mauldin signaled the need for a culture shift, for "simplifying pre-trial procedures and moving the emphasis away from the conventional trial in favour of proportional procedures tailored to the needs of the particular case." Summary trials are a part of that shift. The Honourable Mr. Justice R.A. Jerke of the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench will review the use of the summary trial process in the Southern Region of the Court and generally, and the process for a summary trial hearing, and will respond to questions from the audience.

If you've ever wondered about how or when to use the summary trial process in family law matters, this is your opportunity to learn more about this cost-saving process!
