Expenses allowed by Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) can be added back to an individual’s income by the court if the expenses have a personal benefit. Review the Federal Child Support Guidelines and existing caselaw to gain a greater understanding of which expenses are commonly added back by the court and how a gross-up formula works. Consider a practical starting point for evaluating financial statements to determine Guideline income.
