LAST CALL for LESA's Family Law Agreements Seminar

Ken Proudman President

  BARR LLP
   Edmonton, Alberta

If you haven't already registered, the Family Law Agreements seminar is next Thursday, January 29th, either over livestream or in person in Edmonton.

We're trying a new format where each topic will be half presentation, and half panel discussion. I'll be moderating the panel discussion, and have prepared questions to be able to delve into discussions where our panel will share a wide variety of practical insights and perspectives.

The panel has already written thorough papers, so I can tell that their presentations will be excellent. We'll have a brief overview of the law relating to family law agreements from Janaia Fedor of BARR LLP. Bud Melnyk KC of Warren Sinclair LLP will then share his experience of what he considers throughout negotiations in order to arrive at an agreement. Jasmine Chu of TC Family Law Group will be sharing many practical insights about addressing renegotiation, and increasing the likelihood of enforcement of the agreement. Michelle Bailey of Moe Hannah LLP will be discussing specific drafting considerations, including addressing tax treatment. Jonathan Griffith, Practice Advisor, will be addressing areas of significant potential liability and ethical considerations.
