Open Letter re: Rule of Law

Justine Fallu
  Gunn Law Group
   Edmonton, Alberta

I was forwarded a letter from the President of the Criminal Trial Lawyers' Association (CTLA), and I have been asked to distribute it. The CTLA and other regional and sectorial lawyers' associations are also being asked to circulate it. The CTLA is looking to have individual lawyers sign the letter rather than associations.

If you wish for your name to be added to the letter, please email Shawn King at shawn@kingdefence.ca

"Judges, we are told, lack accountability, yet courts exist to stand
apart from political pressure, to interpret the law when it is unpopular, and to protect rights when it
is inconvenient."

Were the judges upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of Albertans when they were allowing a medical intervention to be injected into the arms of the citizens? You know, my body, my choice stuff. Were they upholding the rule of law when they upheld the terminations from employment for people who would not or could not wear a mask or refused said medical intervention?

I'm not a Smith or UCP supporter, but this is a highly political statement.
