In November 2024 Patricia Hebert K.C. and Joanna Waldie presented a paper at a LESA conference that is a game changer when it comes to parenting issues.

All lawyers, mediators and Judges should read it.

It is about children winning, not parents.

At this link LESA will "sell" it through their website for "free" for the next three months.

This was based on a request to make it widely available because it is so important that no one should miss out on it.

Please get your copy asap so that LESA can see this initiative was worthwhile.

The paper will make you look at the practice of family law in a different and better way.

Doug Moe K.C.

We have decided to make it available, free of charge, for a period. At that time, we will re-evaluate. People will need to "purchase" the paper from our website, but it won't cost them anything. It is available here: https://www.lesaonline.org/product/practical-guide... . Please feel free to pass along the URL as you see fit.

Read it, printed it, and plan to re-read it numerous times. Game-changing for sure. Thank you to whoever posted this (Doug Moe) as you have done a great service bringing this to the attention of Alberta family lawyers. Thank you to LESA for a free copy. Thank you to the authors for writing a solid paradigm-shifting paper that puts into words the sense we all have of "there is a better way" and provides practical tips also.

Justices need to read this paper also. I was at a Case Management Conference a year ago and asked for parents to be ordered to take "New Ways for Families" and was shot down not just by opposing counsel but justice also declined. To be fair, family was directed into some kind of therapeutic measure but an expensive psychologist ....the workbook solutions are cheaper and could also be effective....
